  2. WORDPROBS v1.0

  4. WordProbs is a word problem tutorial.  Most folks I have worked
  5. with in the past seem to do well in math until they encounter
  6. word problems.  The difficulty stems from their inability to
  7. pick apart the problems into discrete sections and to then
  8. create mathematical equations from those sections.  This is
  9. where WordProbs comes in.  I have sat down and worked several
  10. problems of each type of word problem, analyzing it and show
  11. how to go about solving it.  Each type of word problem, such as
  12. distance, cost, interest, age, etc, is made up of two sections:
  13. (1) tutorial, and (2) sample problems for the user to try out.

  16. To get the WordProb program up and running,
  17. you need the following:
  18.  
  19.      286 or better processor
  20.      CGA/EGA/VGA graphics
  21.      512K conventional memory
  22.      Keyboard
  23.      Inquisitive mind
  24.

  26. The program may be started by changing to the directory you have
  27. copied the program into and then typing  WORDPROB
  28.  
  29. After the program has started, the user can move through the
  30. various screens with the arrow keys and the Page Up/Down keys.
  31. That's it!  Nothing complicated at all.
